FAQ
Q. Where did you study?
A. Dominion Herbal College.
Q. How did you know to study herbal medicine?
A. First I had to learn what I didn’t want to do. Then I slowly got hints and asked myself, “What would I be able to passionately dedicate the rest of my life to?” Herbal medicine was the answer.
Q. Why did you choose Dominion Herbal College?
A. It was a 4 year program and the title “Clinical Herbal Therapist” encompassed everything I wanted to be. “Clinical” refers to the clinical examinations we perform, “Herbal” refers to the therapeutic use of herbs, and “Therapist” implies how personal the rapport between patient and clinician really is. Also with the flexible schedule I was able to work while going to school which was crucial.
Q. Can herbal medicine help my condition?
A. Most likely, yes. The active constituents in plants have many actions capable of improving quality of life.
Q. What is a tincture?
A. A tincture is an alcoholic herbal extract (usually with a 1:5 herb to menstruum ratio meaning every 5 mls of tincture contains 1 g of herb).
Q. What is the difference between a tincture and a fluid extract?
A. A fluid extract is a more concentrated version of a tincture (1:4 herb to mestruum ratio or stronger e.g. 1:3, 1:2, or 1:1) so a smaller dose can be used.
Q. I see a lot of tinctures use grain alcohol, do your tinctures contain gluten?
A. My tinctures are made from very high grade (pharmaceutical quality) ethanol distilled from French sugar beet, without any risk of gluten contamination in the distillation process. If you have celiac disease or a gluten sensitivity this is something we will be mindful of when formulating for you. The same goes for any plant allergies (e.g. grass allergy, daisy family allergy).
Q. Which methods of payment do you accept?
A. Most often, people choose to send me an e-transfer after the consultation, however I accept cash and cheques as well.
